Did You Know?

Not everything unusual on the Moor Pool Estate can be seen. The folllowing are some of those features hidden from sight.

Notorious for flooding (although strangely omitted from the sales blurb for the properties built there) the valley site hosts a massive underground flood alleviation tank. The tank is under the concrete covers behind the heritage notice board in Winterbourne Lane. Its depth is that of a double decker bus - on end! The sound of the noise, as they drilled though rock to create it was heard at the Blue Coat School over by the Green Man pub. Yet more allotments had to be lost to accomodate this tank and the rubbish soil on the land adjacent to Winterbourne Lane is a result of the disturbance and removal of the original mature allotment soil.
